Warm, dry weather for the next couple days continues to favor critical RH values during the afternoon hours. While winds are expected to remain less than 15 knots through the week and seas are expected to remain at 2 feet or less, locally higher winds and waves are possible in the vicinity of any storms that do develop.įIRE WEATHER. Beginning Wednesday, storms may develop across the interior, and the wind flow could carry them towards the coast. Stronger flow is expected later in the week, with the highest winds and waves expected during the overnight hours with easterly surges of wind. Issued at 302 PM EDT Mon May 8 2023Ī predominantly easterly flow continues through the week ahead, but this flow should turn onshore along the coast during the afternoon hours each day. Better chances for inland convection return Wednesday. It is possible for an isolated storm to develop across the interior tomorrow afternoon, but should remain to the east of KLAL. Light easterly flow is beginning to turn more WNW this afternoon for sites as the sea breeze moves inland. No significant aviation concerns for the next couple days. Hints of the upcoming rainy season are starting to show, but this week's conditions suggest coverage is still generally not likely to be as much as one would expect once the rainy season really starts to get going. As more of this moisture lingers and sinks farther southward on Thursday and Friday, more coverage across inland and SWFL is possible, continuing for the days to come thereafter. The first day that really has this potential is Wednesday, likely confined farther north and inland in closer proximity to a very weak boundary and a slight increase in vorticity. However, an increase in moisture is expected by the middle of the week, beginning to bring some potential back for diurnal convection. Visible satellite and sounding data from this morning show a relatively dry atmosphere remains in place, and that is likely to continue for the next couple days. Little change at the surface is expected in response. A fairly zonal pattern with weak ridging is expected to amplify through the week, giving way to even stronger upper-level ridging across the area. Even so, daytime highs are expected in the upper 80s to lower 90s with water temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s.Ī flavor of this easterly flow is expected for the duration of the forecast period, given the overall persistent and increasingly summer-like upper level pattern settling in. However, the flow is relatively light, allowing the sea breeze to propagate inland from the west coast each day, moderating temperatures somewhat. In response, the background low-level flow continues to remain out of the east as well. Upper level ridging continues to build in from the west as a surface ridge axis remains in place to the east. Winds and waves higher in and near Thunderstorms.Īrea Discussion for - Tampa Bay, FL (on/off) Help NOTE: mouseover dotted underlined text for definitionĪrea Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 303 PM EDT Mon May 8 2023ĭISCUSSION.
